Introducing Haida

We’re delighted to introduce Haida, one of our brilliant volunteers.  She’s based in Beijing  – but we’ll let her tell you who she is and what she’s working on.

Over to Haida:

———————————

Hi, my name is Haida.

Originally from Singapore, I am currently based in Beijing and work for an Australian non-profit planning corporate events and building partnerships with key institutions in China and Australia. China is a fascinating place with so much to explore and eat! Before Beijing, I spent two years working and living in Sierra Leone, which is where I met Toshi and Ewa.

At Kopernik, I work with the core team to support our efforts to identify sustainable funding opportunities, build and manage corporate partnerships with a variety of actors. I joined because I was very interested in the role of innovative technologies in sustainable development and the impact they can have on local communities.

For me, what is always perplexing about the development sector is how technology that can help to solve some of the most complex problems today plays a very insignificant part. So many cool things are out there and yet so few are harnessed! This is where Kopernik comes in – bringing simple but much needed technology to those who need them.

I have been fortunate all of my life but know that the world continues to face many human tragedies. As such, I hope to use my skills and privilege to pursue meaningful work to address those issues. I really enjoy what I do at Kopernik, am proud to be a part of a dedicated and talented group and am especially excited about helping Kopernik make an impact in people’s lives.
