Language Learning Through Skype

On our recent trip to Japan I came across an interesting NGO that was providing English language classes to Japanese students via Skype.  This particular organization employs teachers in the Philippines and links them to students in Japan at a fraction of the price that one-on-one language tuition would normally cost.

I just came across a similar program covered by Mashable.  This one is a partnership with Marquette University where Spanish students hone their foreign language skills with frequent with their English-learning counterparts in South America.  With Skype, every student has regular access to a free personal tutor.

And I’ve just done a google search on language learning through skype and there are hundreds of these initiatives!

When you learn language using skype, it is really useful to have your lessons recorded and stored in your Gmail. G-Recorder ( http://www.g-recorder.com ) can do this very easy.
